Rajat was passionate toward acting and direction from early childhood. At the age of 14, he decided to become a filmmaker. At first, he started his career as an actor in the 1989 film ‘Khayal Gatha’.
During his days of struggle, he began writing and directing short films. His first directorial venture was ‘Private Detective’. During this time, he got his breakthrough role in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ in 20o1 alongside Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta. After this movie, people started to notice Rajat.
