Sharmila Tagore, who is also known as the Begum Ayesha Sultana is an actress from Bollywood. She was born on 8th December of the year 1946 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, to the famous Tagore family who was once one of the leading families of Calcutta, India. She is the mother of the famous Bollywood actor Saif Ali khan and was married to the Nawab turned cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan.
Her mother Ira Boruah was an Assamese and her father Gitindranath Tagore was a Bengali.Tagore was the eldest among her siblings and had two sisters growing up Oindrila Kunda and Romila Sen.
In the early stage of her life she was home schooled in Hyderabad, however, later in she was sent to Kolkata for her schooling in St. John’s Diocesan Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Loreto Convent, Asansol. However, she didn’t complete her education as she had to commit to her career in Bollywood.

Marriage and Children.
Sharmila Ali khan was married to the famous Nawab Turned cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and the couple had three kids from their marriage; Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan. She is now living the life of a widow as her husband Mansoor Ali Khan passed away on September 22, 2011.
Sharmila Tagore was introduced to the world of acting through her debut movie “Apur Sansar”. She was approached by Satyajit Ray and with the consent of her parents, she started her career in Bollywood. She later appeared in some of Shakti Samanta’s “Kashmir Ki Kali” and “An Evening in Paris”.

She had also established herself as a sex symbol as she was the first Indian actress to appear on screen with a bikini. Apart from her wearing a bikini on the screen she was also featured posing in a bikini for the cover of Filmfare magazine, 1968.
Sharmila was later on seen in movies paired with Rajesh Khanna like “Aradhana”, “Amar Prem”, “Safar”, “Daag”, “Maalik” and so on. The pairing between Rajesh and Sharmila was very successful as they gave 7 box office hits. She has also been seen as opposite to Dharmender in movies like “Devar”, “Anupama”, “Mere Hamdam Mere Dost”, “Satyakam”, “Yakeen”, “Chupke Chupke” and so on. She did also manage to work along with the famous Amitabh Bachchan in movies like “Faraar” which was a huge hit back then. She also played some movie along with Sanjeev Kumar like “Mausam” and “Besharam”.
Through her career in Bollywood, she has managed to win the heart of millions of fan and she has also been able to collect a huge collection of awards for her performance in various movies. Some of her awards are Padma Bhushan, National Film Award for best actress and best-supporting actress, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Sanskriti Kalashree Award and so on.
