Ashish Shakya is one of India’s most celebrated stand-comedian, humor columnist, actor and TV writer, actor. He is widely popular for his roles in various “All India Bakchod” (AIB) comedy youtube channel. He is an editor for CNN-IBN in Mumbai and was a scriptwriter for Pepsi MTV’s “Wassup: The Voice of Youngistaan” and “The Week That Wasn’t with Cyrus Broacha” on CNN-IBN. Shakya has also worked with Channel V,  SAB TV, and Bindass.

Life & Career

Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India into a Hindu family, Shakya earned a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer from the University of Mumbai. His father was an airplane pilot.

With much going on in career front, he conceded that he and his AIB mates needed to give up sleep and their social life.Yet, his work is the thing that props him up. Thus his comedy revolves around Indian and global politics, relationships and the general foolishness, pop-culture, and idiosyncrasies of the world yet with maturity and judgment skills.

Along with his collaborations with AIB, Shakya is one of India’s top stand-up comedians. He has performed in over 100 shows in various cities from Mumbai to Dubai going overseas. He has earned himself a recurring spot in Canvas Laugh Factory, Mumbai (Comedy Store).

Being part of AIB, along with Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi, and Gursimran Khamba. AIB has launched five live properties in just over a year, including the acclaimed mock Bollywood award show, the Royal Turds. AIB recently partnered with YouTube and OML, to forayed into digital content with its online weekly sketch show, AIB365.

Other Works

Apart from this, he has worked for Hindustan Times as its humor section writer for more than 5 years. His column is titled ‘The Blunder Years’,  where he gives his interpretation of everything from Pakistan to dirty politics and online dating and everything around the nation.

Knowing his ability, he has been hired to writes for a number of brands, such as the ET Now, the Filmfare Awards 2012,  the Aditya Birla Group, the Hero Group,  and much more.
