Harmanpreet Kaur is the new superstar of Indian women’s cricket team. She is praised for her cricketing genius and her ability to clear the boundaries at will.

Born on 8 March, 1989, Harmanpreet is Right-hand batter and right-arm medium bowler. She is famous for her brilliant knock of 171 not out from just 115 balls against Australia in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup. Miss Kaur was born in Moga, Punjab to Harmandar Singh Bhullar and Satwinder Kaur. She grew up with her three siblings. She attended the Gian Jyoti School Academy, 30 km away from her hometown.

The big hitter Kaur is 5 feet 4 inches in height and weighs 119 lbs. Her zodiac sign is Pisces. She is Indian by nationality and Sikh by religion. At the age of 28, she is single and busy with her career.

Harmanpreet started her cricketing from Kamaldish Singh Sodhi’s “Premier Cricket Academy.” Her phenomenal performance in the Academy led to her selection in the Moga district team through which she participated in the state tournament.

Kaur made her international debut on 7 March, 2009, against arch rival Pakistan in the 2009 ICC Women’s World Cup. On 11 June, 2009, she made her T20 international debut against England. She continued her journey with numerous brilliant innings and garnered much credit for her big hit.


Some of the memorable moments of Kaur’s career; 107 not out against England and 103 against Bangladesh in 2013 and 9 wicket haul against South Africa in 2015. Her most brilliant innings came on July 20, 2017, when she scored 171 not out from just 115 balls in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup. She demonstrated batting of the highest quality by hitting 20 fours and 7 maximums.

Till now, Kaur has scored 1974 runs in ODI and 1223 runs in International T20 games. In June 2016, she became the first Indian cricketer to play in Women’s Big Bash Leauge representing Sydney thunder. Recently, BCCI recommended Kaur for the Arjuna Award to be presented in August 2017.
