Rajat Sharma is a prominent Indian journalist and TV anchor, who is famous for his show, Aap Ki Adalat. He is celebrated for his calm and cool nature and the way in which he organizes his program.

Born in 1957, he is currently the chairman and editor-in-chief of India TV. This Padhma Bhushan awarded journalist is very popular in India and considered at par with other big name journalists such as Arnab Goswami, Ravish Kumar and Barkha Dutt.

Rajat Sharma’s Early Career

Born on 18th February 1957 in Delhi to big and poor family, Rajat had to face many difficulties and hardships while growing up. He attended the Sanatan Dharma Middle School for early education and enrolled in Sri Ram College of Commerce for further studies. He shares a great friendship with current union finance minister Arun Jaitley and is happily married to Ritu Dhawan, a TV producer.

Rajat Sharma’s Career

After completing his study, Rajat Sharma worked as a researcher and subsequently started to write for magazines. He started his journalism career with Onlooker as a trainee reporter in 1982 and gradually climbed the ladder and thus promoted to chief of bureau in 1984 and editor in 1985. He further worked as an editor at Sunday Observer and The Daily.

He started his TV career with Aap Ki Adalat, the interview program in the format of court. His first episode features Lalu Prasad Yadav and was aired on March 14, 1993. The show was an instant hit and he gained huge name and fame. This show still hosts many big figures from different fields and draws the attention of many people.

In 2004, along with other journalists, he launched India TV  News channel and was highly applauded for the serious content of the channel. India TV is flourishing day by day and holds one of the best studios in India with state-of-the-art-technology.

In 2014, the board of News Broadcasters Association appointed Rajat Sharma as its president.
