Saina Nehwal is an Indian professional badminton player and considered as the queen of Indian badminton. She is one the finest player in women’s badminton, the world has ever seen. Saina Nehwal was born on 17 march, 1990, in Hisar, Haryana to Harvir Singh Nehwal and Usha Nehwal. She grew up in Hisar and Hyderabad with her elder sister. She completed her higher secondary education from St. Ann’s College, Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad.

Saina Nehwal is fondly called as Steffi Saina by her mother as she has been a huge fan of tennis star Steffi Graff. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall with black hair and black eyes. Saina is from a badminton background as both her parents were state level badminton champions for Haryana. At the age of 8, she started playing badminton and later joined to the Gopichand Badminton Academy. Due to her sheer determination, hard work, passion and love for the sports, she developed into an excellent player.

Saina introduced herself to the badminton world, when she became the under under-19 national champion in 2006. At that time, she was only 16-year-old. In the same year, she won the Philippines Open. She further continued her journey by becoming the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships in 2008.

She further established her name in the badminton world by winning many competitions; 1st position in the BWF Super Series in 2009, gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
