Smriti Irani is an eminent Indian with multiple identity and many qualities. She is an Indian politician and former model and television actress. She is a Member of Parliament to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Gujarat. Currently, she is serving as the Information and Broadcasting & Textile Minister in the Government of India.
Born on 23 March, 1976, Smriti Irani came into the limelight from the role of Tulshi in the TV serial “Kyunki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” starring alongside Ronit Roy and Mandira Bedi. She is popularly known as “Indian’s Bahu.” She is famous for her natural acting and strong screen presence.

Smriti Zubin Irani was born as Smriti Malhotra in New Delhi to Shri Ajay Kumar Malhotra and Shibani Bagchi. She represents unity in diversity as she was born to a Punjabi father and Bengali mother and married to a Parsi man.
Smriti Irani is 5 feet 7 inches in height and weighs 181 lbs. She shares Aries as a horoscope. She is of Indian nationality and practices Hindu religion and culture. After completing high school from Holy Child Auxilium School, New Delhi, she enrolled in the University of Delhi.

After participating in the Miss India 1998, Smriti tried her luck in the glam field. In 1998, she appeared in the Mika Singh’s song “Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag.” She made her television debut with “Aatish” and “Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal” in the year 2000.
After appearing in several serials, she landed the lead role of Tulsi Mihir Virani in Star Plus’s popular drama “Kyunki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” She became a household name and one of the most loved small screen characters among Indian TV viewers. Further, she worked in soap operas such as “Virrudh”, “Mere Apne” and “Waaris.”
Apart from acting, Smriti hosted the show “Yeh Hai Jalwa”, a dance based reality show with Sakshi Tanwar. In 2010, she worked in Hindi movie “Malik Ek”, a spiritual on Sai Baba of Shirdi.

While being active in the television, Smriti joined BJP in 2003. She quickly rose to the prominence and became Vice President of Maharastha Youth Wing in 2004. In 201o, she took the charge of “BJP Majila Morcha” – BJP’s women’s wing. The following year, she became the MP to Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.
Although, Smriti bear loss in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed her as Human Resource Department Minister in his cabinet on may 26, 2014. On July 5, 2016, she was moved to the Textiles Ministry. In addition, she gets charge of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on July 18, 2017.
